Unauthorized substances include: Tobacco products Alcohol Illegal drugs Fireworks or other explosives Weapons of any kind Razor blades Blades intended for shaving must be kept with a designated staff person. All medications/prescribed drugs must be kept in a secure location under the control of the Camp Nurse. Electronics Bringing electronic devices such as tablets and laptops is not required but is encouraged for use in language class. All other devices including smart phones, cell phones, handheld video games, etc. are prohibited and will be confiscated during inspection. Digital and disposable cameras are allowed but the Sons of Norway District Six Language/Heritage Camp is not responsible for the potential loss or damage of these devices. Facilities Campers will be assigned sleeping facilities and restrooms. They will move their belongings to sleeping area with the help of counselors. Campers are not allowed to enter sleeping areas where they are not assigned. Campers are not allowed to enter bathrooms where they are not assigned. Campers are not allowed to misuse or deface camp property. (This includes toilet paper, food, signs, doors, windows, screens, tents, etc.) Behavior All campers will be respectful of adults by listening to staff and following directions. Absolutely no hitting, fighting, hazing, verbal abuse or bullying allowed. Conflicts between campers will be resolved by adult staff. Profane or obscene language are strictly forbidden (what is or is not permitted at home is irrelevant). Campers are not allowed to smoke, chew tobacco, vape, drink alcohol, take medications that are not prescribed to them, or do other illegal substances. There will be absolutely no hazing or initiation type activities allowed by campers or staff. Activities Hiking in groups with staff only. No climbing trees or jumping off steps and porches Swimming under supervision of at least two adult staff member only. No leaving boundaries of camp unless with adult staff. Campers are required to take two (2) showers per week minimum Campers must wear closed toe shoes and clothing suitable for camp activities and surroundings (no sandals). Campers must agree to abide by the rules and regulations set by the camp for the health, safety, and welfare of all campers. Willful destruction of property will be the financial responsibility of the camper’s parents. The Sons of Norway District Six Language/Heritage Camp is not responsible for clothing or personal belongings lost or damaged. If there is a continuing problem with a camper, the Director will contact the parents to discuss the problem. Campers who continually violate rules or who refuse to conform to camp standards will be sent home to parents at their expense. No camp fees will be refunded for campers removed from camp because of behavior or continued safety risks. Parents/Guardians will be billed for any damages occurring at Camp Norge that are the direct responsibility of their child. Second Parent/Guardian signature is optional.Date MM slash DD slash YYYY Consent to Search In order to prevent harm, maintain order and safety to all campers and staff who are participating in the Sons of Norway District Six Language/Heritage Camp activities, I (parent) hereby give permission to Sons of Norway District Six Language/Heritage Camp staff to search my camper’s belongings when there is reasonable suspicion that the camper has possession of illegal, dangerous or prohibited items (i.e. weapons, knives, alcohol, illegal drugs, fireworks or explosives) or the camper seriously violates camp rules and evidence of the infraction can be found through a search of the camper’s personal belongings. To the extent possible, the camper will be present during such a search and the scope of the search will be limited to their personal belongings.
